Tourism in digits in Sofia for the first 9 months of 2024

According to the current data of the Integrated Tourist Information System (ЕSTI) of the Ministry of Tourism, over the past nine months, overnight stays on the territory of Sofia are 2 107 934, which is an 8% increase, compared to the same period in 2023.

The number of tourists who visited the capital was slightly over 900,000, with a 9% increase compared to the previous year. Of them, nearly 63% are foreigners. The top 5 countries that generated the highest growth in tourist visits to Sofia for the period January - September 2024 are: China 99% growth, Spain 42%, Austria 28%, Italy 18%, Greece 13%.

The distribution by age was as follows: up to 14 years: 3%, 15-29 years: 18%, 30-44 years: 33%, 45-59 years: 30%, over 60 years: 16%.
