Bus transport

Several Sofia bus stations service the numerous buses that crisscross the country and connect Sofia and Bulgaria with most of the cities of Europe. The biggest bus stations in Sofia for:
- international and domestic bus routes are:

  • Sofia Central Bus Station;
  • Serdika Bus Station (also called Traffic Market);

- domestic bus routes are:

  • Zapad Bus Station (also called Ovcha Koupel Bus Station or West Bus Station);
  • Yug Bus Station (South Bus Station).

Sofia Central Bus Station and Serdika Bus Station are the two Sofia’s principal bus gateways. Both are located next to the Central Railway Station making train-to-bus connections easy. Sofia Central Bus Station and Serdika Bus Stations are the base of numerous coach operators, that have divided the domestic and international routes.

SOFIA CENTRAL BUS STATION

Sofia Central Bus Station is located at 100 Maria Louisa Blvd. It can be reached by Sofia Metro Line 2 (Central Railway Station metro station); by trams №: 1,3,6,7 and by buses №: 85,213,305,404,413.

Sofia Metro connects Sofia Central Bus Station with the center of the city – Serdika metro Station. The trip takes about 5 minutes. Passengers can change metro lines at Serdika metro station and travel direct to Sofia Airport Terminal 2. Sofia Metro connects Serdika metro station with Sofia South Bus Station (Joliot Curie metro station), as well. The metro trains from and to Sofia Central Bus Station run from 5:30 to 24:00 on weekdays and holidays.

SERDIKA BUS STATION

Serdika Bus Station is located at 108 Maria Louisa Blvd. – next to Sofia Central Bus Station. It can be reached by: Sofia Metro Line 2 (Central Railway Station metro station), by trams № 1,3,6,7 and by buses № 85,213,305,404,413.

ZAPAD (OVCHA KUPEL) BUS STATION – (WEST BUS STATION)

Ovcha Kupel Bus Station is located at 1 Ovcha Kupel Blvd. It can be reached by trams №: 4,11 and by buses № 5-ТМ; 73, 103, 107, 260.
The buses to Rila Monastery depart from this bus station. The bus line remain closed until further notice.

YUG BUS STATION (SOUTH BUS STATION)

South Bus Station is located at 23 Dragan Tsankov Blvd. It can be reached by Sofia Metro (Joliot Curie metro station), by buses № 67, 413.

From South Bus Station depart the buses from Sofia to Velingrad; buses from Sofia to Samokov – by changing buses at Samokov Bus Station, passengers can travel from Sofia trough Samokov to Borovets.
