From today, October 20, we are opening a second archaeological park in our city to visitors. After the opening of the Western Gate of Serdica for free access, Sofia residents and guests of the city will also be able to visit the archaeological park Late Antique Mausoleum near South Park in the Lozenets district. This was announced by the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova.
The Late Antique Mausoleum will function as a branch of the History Museum of Sofia. The facility will be open daily, with free entry. In the months of November-April inclusive, it will be open for visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and in the months of May-October from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
An open-air poster exhibition has been made in the archaeological park with boards in Bulgarian and English, tracing the history of field research. It is planned to organize outdoor events and exhibitions at the site all year round, as well as educational programs for children.
The object was realized according to a project to increase the tourist attractiveness of Sofia and Nis. Partners are the Municipality of Sofia, the Association “Institute for Progress and Cooperation in the Western Balkans Region – Nis” and “Love and Light” Association.
