Sofia Municipality has been Awarded in The Best City to Live in Bulgaria Competition

Wednesday, 04 July 2018

Sofia Municipality has ranked first in terms of most efficient use of European funds in Darik Radio’s The Best City to Live in Bulgaria Competition. The assessment focuses on how the capital of a member state of the European Union is dealing with European funds - it is not connected with the amount of attracted funds but with the realized projects. The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova said: “I accept this award as a recognition of Sofia and its residents who support the realization of large infrastructure projects. The prize is for all teams that are working on European projects. This is an appraisal of the more than 20 kilometers long subway system that is already built and of the other 12km that are being constructed at the moment. Towards the end of 2019 half a million people will be using the subway on a daily basis”. Sofia has also been awarded in MRDPW’s campaign My city is my fortress.
