The first Museum of Tourism in Bulgaria opened its doors in Sofia. It is located in the building of the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies. Its exposition includes many and varied documents and artifacts related to the development of tourism in Bulgaria from 1946 to present day. This exhibition was created with the aim of preserving and displaying the rich collection of materials stored by different people who have worked in the tourism sector over the years. The main initiator and contributor to the museum’s collection is the doyen of Bulgarian tourism Peter Doichev with his donation of more than 1000 items. It is expected that the number of the exhibits will increase and that this heritage will be digitalized so that it can be used by everyone, including the scientific community in Bulgaria and abroad.
