13th International Photo Festival—PHODAR Biennial
The Palace Curators: Nadezhda Pavlova and Antoan Bozhinov
The Thirteenth International PHODAR Photo Biennial, a prestigious forum for contemporary photography, celebrates the 25th anniversary of its establishment in 1999. With each successive edition, it continues to affirm its importance as a platform for the exchange of ideas and creative dialogue between photographers, curators and researchers.
The festival attracts increasing interest and offers exposure in the virtual space, as this year there are 801 applicants from 81 countries. The international jury selected the portfolios of 37 artists from 17 countries for inclusion in the exhibition.
On 4 March, at 5 p.m., PHODAR Biennial’s artistic director will announce the competition results to the media. The section winners: Grand Prize, Humanistic Photography Award and Debut Award, will be announced at the official opening.
The exhibition programme includes a theoretical seminar on 11 March, at 6 p.m., with the attendance of experts in the humanities and visual arts, representatives of academic institutions, galleries, non-governmental organisations and photographers. On 16 March, at 1 p.m., a tour of the exhibition will be led by Dr Antoan Bozhinov, the festival founder and curator.
The Biennial is made possible with the financial support of the National Culture Fund and the Sofia Culture Programme.
